1- By Train
This is a good transportation solution for single persons or couples.
Directly within Fiumicino Airport it is possible to take a fast train to Rome Termini Central Station (Leonardo Express) or to Rome Tiburtina. The train takes about 30 minutes to arrive at Rome Termini. It runs approximately every 20 minutes on week-days while rather less often during holidays. By connecting to
this page of Trenitalia you can easily insert the station of departure and arrival airport (Fiumicino-Rome Termini or Tiburtina) and see all the details about train connections from the airport.
Ticket cost per person for the fast train is EUR 15,00 which means that starting
from 3 people (in some cases also 2 if you use our transfer services) it could be more convenient anyway to use a TAXI or one the Shuttle Services described below to reach one of our apartments or an hotel in Rome.
While for people renting an apartment in Prati or Vatican Area there is either another fast way: they may get off at Trastevere train station and take the first train (every 10 minutes) to Saint Peter Station (2 stops from Trastevere: Trastevere- Quattro Venti – San Pietro, trains towards Viterbo). This is a small train station serving Vatican – Portacavalleggeri Area and Saint Peter.
2 - Coach - Shuttle
The bus
COTRAL S.p.A. is for sure a cheaper solution (respect to train) that allows connections to Rome Termini and Tiburtina (Same Line) at EUR 4,50. For those who need to go towards the south side of Lazio region there are also connections to Latina, Aprilia and Pomezia. Who prefers a transfer more comfortable but still pretty cheap there are also
several shuttle services starting from EUR 8,00 per person and connecting both Fiumicino and Ciampino Airports to the main areas of Rome city centre. It will be very easy to find one of their advertisements already at luggage claim area of the airport. In this case as for Cotral it may take a long time before getting the next transfer available.
3 - Taxi
Taxi prices from Rome Fiumicino are regulated: standard car (no more than 4 people with limited luggage) rate is EUR 45,00 + 1 EUR per luggage. From Rome Ciampino Airport the price is lower: EUR 40,00 + 1 EUR per luggage.

As it happens in many big cities you have to pay attention to the people waiting immediately outside and offering a taxi-ride to the centre. The official taxis are white and available outside the airport (See pictures above). It will be really easy to find the right line once outside.
